How Books Unite People handles your information

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This page explains what information Books Unite People collects when you visit booksunitepeople.com or join our newsletter, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've kept it in plain English.

Who we are

Books Unite People publishes romance novels. This website hosts pages about our books and links to where you can read them on Amazon.

The short version

  • You can't create an account or leave comments on this site.
  • Some of our book pages use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure our Facebook ads.
  • Links to Amazon include tracking tags so we can see which ads lead to book sales. We never see who bought what.
  • If you join our newsletter, we keep your email address so we can send it to you. You can unsubscribe anytime.
  • We don't sell your personal information.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel

Some of our book pages include the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms. When you visit one of those pages, the Pixel can send Meta information such as the page you viewed, your IP address, and details about your browser and device. It also places a cookie called _fbp in your browser, which lasts up to 90 days.

We use this to see whether our Facebook and Instagram ads are working and to show our ads to readers who may enjoy our books. Meta may connect this information to your Facebook or Instagram account. Meta's use of the data is covered by the Meta Privacy Policy.

You can control ads based on your activity in your Facebook ad preferences, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser.

Amazon links

When you click a link to one of our books, it goes to Amazon. Some of these links include Amazon Attribution tags. Amazon uses them to give us summary reports, such as how many people clicked a link and how many books were bought or borrowed. These reports don't tell us your name or anything else that identifies you.

Once you're on Amazon, Amazon's Privacy Notice applies.

Our newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address, your first name if you give it to us, and when and where you signed up. Our newsletter is sent through MailerLite, our email service. MailerLite may record whether you open an email or click a link in it, which helps us see what readers enjoy.

We use your email only to send you the newsletter, including news about our books, new releases, and bonus content. We keep it until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we'll remove you.

Hosting, security, and fonts

This site is hosted by HostGator. Like most web hosts, their servers automatically log basic details about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you requested. We use the Wordfence security plugin to block hackers and spam, and it may also record IP addresses of visitors to spot attacks.

Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When they do, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.

We use these details only to keep the site running, secure, and looking right.

Cookies

Visitors to this site may receive one cookie: _fbp, set by the Meta Pixel on our book pages (see above). WordPress and Wordfence set additional cookies only for people who log in to manage the site.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work if you do.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the services that help us run this site and our newsletter: Meta (advertising), Amazon (sales reporting), MailerLite (email), HostGator (hosting), Wordfence (security), and Google (fonts). Some of these companies are based in the United States and may process your information there.

We don't sell your personal information. Under some US state privacy laws, using the Meta Pixel for advertising can count as "sharing" personal information. If you'd like to opt out, email us, and see the Meta Pixel section above for ways to block it yourself.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and several US states, you may have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct or delete it
  • object to or limit how we use it
  • withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter
  • get a copy of your information

To make a request, email angel (at) booksunitepeople (dot) com. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK and you're unhappy with our answer, you can also contact your local data protection authority.

Legal bases (for EU and UK readers)

We send the newsletter because you asked for it (your consent). We run hosting, security, and fonts because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site working and safe. We use the Meta Pixel to measure and improve our advertising, relying on your consent where the law requires it.

Adults only

Our books are romance for adults. This site isn't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us their information, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
